35mm or HD?
Yesterday, I assisted DP Bobby Bukowski in shooting camera tests for the feature Chronicle he is currently prepping. We tested the Arri Alexa vs. Arricam ST in different conditions: driving in a car, movements in the streets, night and low light, contrasts etc. Let’s see which one they will pick!

Matter of size?
I filled in for a day on “Always and Forever”, in Simi Valley. Here is the camera I worked on: Arri 535 with an 11-1 Optimo, on a slider. We needed to be 2 ACs to carry it…

Kevin Spacey & Robin Williams in “Shrink”
I just finished working for a week as a 1st AC on the next Kevin Spacey’s movie, directed by Jonas Pate. Challenging shoot, with 3 Panavision cameras running simultaneously. In a building on Abbot Kinney in Venice, we mostly shot the scenes taking place in Spacey’s office.> I will keep on working on it as a day player when they need a 3rd camera. DP: Lukas Ettlin Operators: Brown Cooper and Todd Campbell A and B 1st ACs: Hassan Abdul-Wahid and Eliott Schakne

Jimmy Jib on “Timer”
Harris has been shooting this feature for a couple of weeks and wanted to use the Jib for the last shot of the movie. Last Sunday, we built the arm on the tracks of the “College of the Canyons”, in Santa Clarita. Here is a video of the shoot.

Pascal Obispo’s music video
Using Matt Uhry’s russian Konvas camera, we shot yesterday the new music video of the very well established French singer Pascal Obispo. His new song, “Nouveau Voyage”, features the rapper Baby Bash. We spent most of our day on the beach in Venice before moving to the “Vine Bar” in Hollywood to finish the day. I was the only camera assistant, pulling focus and loading. Very busy day! Thanks to Sean for his help and Marten, our DP. UPDATE 11/23/07: The music video has just been released.

Car crash video
We spent two nights shooting downtown LA this car chase for the feature “Sharphooter”. Here is one of the shot, in the tunnel on 3rd St. It took such a long time to set up… I hate night shoots sometimes!
