Trailer “The Grove”
I just randomly found the website of this trailer I worked on in 2006. Long time ago already… The story is about this special unit trying to stop a terrorist attack at The Grove, in Hollywood. In addition to be a 2nd AC, I also took care of the jib work. The use of the crane was unusal that time and you wouldn’t notice it while watching the video. But all the shots around the cockpit of the jet were made on the jib then mixed with special effects in post. DP was Ruben Russ, 1st ACs were Joseph Arena and Nicolas Martin.

Entourage
DP Rob Sweeney asked me to bring the jib on Entourage‘s set for one night shoot outside the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. We used his own Red One Camera from HD Rentals. The Lens was a 4-1 Optimo Zoom. With all the accessories (CMotion wireless Focus/Iris/Zoom, hard drive, batteries, mattebox etc.), the camera weight was around 40lbs. Built in its Super configuration (18ft), the jib was also part of the set and “in the movie”. 1st AC/Red Tech was Michael Mansouri, from HD Rentals.

Meese – “Tell Me It’s Over”
Justin Benoliel from Ghost Town Media produced this very promising music video yesterday in a warehouse downtown LA. It was shot by Hori Murai with 18 small camcorders strategically placed to capture the performace. The Red One Camera with anamorphic lenses was on the jib to get aerial dynamic moves and low angles.

Fitness Video
“Super Fit Mamma-Fit for Pregnancy” is the new DVD which Tracey Marlett will be offering soon on her website dedicated to fitness solutions. DP Gavin Brennan asked me to bring and operate the jib in its 12ft configuration, as part of the 4 cameras setup. One of them was operated by my friend Russ Fill.

Concert “Soul In The Machine” (video)
“Soul In The Machine” is a San Diego based electronic band. Last Saturday, the 14th, they performed at a charity event/warehouse party for “Burners Without Borders”, a group of Burning Man humanitarian activists. The Jimmy Jib, in its 12 ft configuration, was used to capture the concert along with 3 other cameras. Matteo Natale was my assistant on this job. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkVOxZCzMkg]

“Miss Angela”
I just came back from two days in Palm Springs, where I worked on a short film called Flyboy. We were at the Air Museum, the action taking place in a old but beautiful 1936 “B-17”. The jib was in its 18ft configuration, mostly used for the exterior shots of the plane. More pics on the “jib operator” page. DP: Matt Turve Camera: Arri SR2

“Seventeen Forever”
Yesterday, I worked on my second music video for the band Metro Station. After Shake It! in the beginning of the year, producer Justin Beloniel asked me to operate the Jib on Seventeen Forever. Taking place at night at the Veluzat Ranch in Santa Clarita, the set was a sort of a trashed Luna Park. Marc Ritzema was the DP. Video coming soon…
