Seal sings for Obama
I pulled focus yesterday on the next Seal’s music video, “A Change Is Gonna Come”. Shot in black & white by Joshua Reis using his Arri SR3 package and a Aaton LTR, the singer was just by himself performing in front of a black background and a spot light. Neon directed this video in support to Obama’s campaign.

Frenchies back in LA!
The French producer Laurent Darmon, who did Passi’s music video last year, came back to LA to shoot “Ray of Light”, the new single of the singer William Baldé. We spent this very sunny day in Venice, using the Arri SR3 in handheld mode, shooting in a house and later by the beach. It was a busy but yet very enjoyable day! Antoine Marteau was the DP and Delfina Garfias, the 2nd AC. http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x5dvvs?logo=0&hideInfos=1

Now producing his own music videos, Justin Benoliel asked me to join his crew with the Jib at the Los Angeles Theater (pretty amazing location), located downtown, to shoot the music video of this new band. Johnny Ching was the DP.

Pascal Obispo’s music video
Using Matt Uhry’s russian Konvas camera, we shot yesterday the new music video of the very well established French singer Pascal Obispo. His new song, “Nouveau Voyage”, features the rapper Baby Bash. We spent most of our day on the beach in Venice before moving to the “Vine Bar” in Hollywood to finish the day. I was the only camera assistant, pulling focus and loading. Very busy day! Thanks to Sean for his help and Marten, our DP. UPDATE 11/23/07: The music video has just been released.

Let’s shoot in RED!
>Andrew Shulkind offered me to work together again with the jib on a music video for Partizan. The overnight shoot took place in a mexican grocery store in the valley. The exciting part of the project was the camera: the RED! The one we got has the serial number #30 and is obviously still not 100% ready. No viewfinder and most of the outpouts don’t work yet. But the camera was very easy to balanced on the remote head of the Jib and we didn’t have any bugs or problems.

“Waking Dreams” Trailer
I just added the trailer of Waking Dreams (ex-Dreamland), which we shot almost 2 years ago in Texas. Jake Kerber was the DP and Nicolas Martin the 1st AC. I was glad to eventually see it! It was my first feature in the States… Good memories 🙂

French Music Video
Yesterday I worked on the new Passi’s music video, a famous french rapper. We got the bridge of 6th St closed all day just for us. I was pulling focus and operating the jib. It was a very busy day but also very nice to be with a french crew. A safe trip back to Paris to the DP Michel Faburiaux!

Car crash video
We spent two nights shooting downtown LA this car chase for the feature “Sharphooter”. Here is one of the shot, in the tunnel on 3rd St. It took such a long time to set up… I hate night shoots sometimes!
